“Each soldier, who participated in this work, wrote his name into history” – General Dr. Tibor Benkő said on Monday, November 11 in Budapest in the Stefánia Palace.

“The meeting of the Chiefs of Defence, held for the first time in our Homeland, met an extremely warm response within the NATO Member States, and the letters of acknowledgements keep coming ever since then." – The Chief of the MoD Defence Staff highlighted in the awards ceremony arranged for the soldiers and civil employees, who showed outstanding commitment in organising and running the NATO Military Committee Conference (MCC) staged in September in Hungary.

Dr. Tibor Benkő added: “the members of a professional army must handle each task with equally utmost care and attention" – either it comes to a military type of duty, training, preparation, participation in operations or just preparing and organising a similar kind of arrangement.

In the reception following the event Lieutenant General Dr. Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of the MoD Defence Staff pointed out, that the arrangement was a success and this we can state “under the positive judgement of the guests". He added that even though two month has passed since then, we still receive thank-you letters, and with this work, the organisers “added to the good reputation of the Hungarian Defence Forces and our Homeland."

NATO’s highest military authority, the Military Committee had its session in Mid-September in Budapest. The main topics of the conference included NATO’s ongoing operations abroad, and priority attention was given to the challenges in the Near East and Northern Africa. Besides these, they discussed the issue of the Kosovo mission, having special importance from the aspect of Hungary and the prospective key tasks of the coming years.
