The Recognition Is Forever

“This decoration will forever remind you of your having represented your nations deservedly and your having completed a tour of duty abroad that was not free from trials and sacrifices”, this was stated at a ceremony in Afghanistan, where the Hungarian, Albanian and Montenegrin soldiers of the 12th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-12) received the NATO medal.

This medal is given to those who have served in some mission of the North Atlantic Alliance in the interest of peace and security.

“During the last six months, you have performed your duties professionally, honestly and honorably", Lt.-Col. János Somogyi stressed in his greeting speech.

The commander of the HUN PRT-12 added that “You have actively participated in the reconstruction of a country with a culture and customs that are totally different from ours; in improving the people’s living conditions and in reinforcing security and stability. This decoration will forever remind you of your having represented your nations deservedly and your having performed a tour of duty abroad that was not free from trials and sacrifices. It is with pleasure and satisfaction that I’m now presenting you with this medal – please wear it proudly! But please don’t forget that the last day of service has not yet arrived, and we have a lot of work to do until then.", Lt.-Col. János Somogyi, the commander of the HUN PRT-12 said.
