Acting upon the Defence Minister’s recommendation, on November 25 President of the Republic Dr. Pál Schmitt promoted LTG Dr. Tibor Benkő, Chief, MoD Defence Staff to Colonel-General.
Also acting upon the Defence Minister’s recommendation, he appointed Col. (Eng.) Dr. József Tokovicz, Director-General, MoD Defence Office to Brigadier-General (Eng.) and Col. Csaba Varga, Deputy Chief of Staff, HDF Joint Force Command to Brigadier-General.
The appointments will come into force as of December 2, 2010. Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende, MoD Administrative State Secretary Lajos Fodor and several relatives of the promoted and appointed generals also attended the event that took place in Sándor Palace.
