In his festive address Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Gábor Kolonics, the Commander of the Health Centre of the Contingent pointed out that the Hungarian soldiers had been aware of their duty all through our history, and stood their ground always defying the conditions of the day, and our ancestors proved this in 1456 at Nándorfehérvár, where the then world’s most modern army attacked us. Then the Hungarian heroes defended Europe from the Islamic conquest, and thanks to this more than 560 years later the bells toll for them again.
Lieutenant Colonel Kolonics closed the festive commemoration with a citation from the Füveskönyv (Herbarium) of Sándor Márai.
