Their maintenance is a primary core task, because without reliably functioning vehicles, the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) would not be able to move around Baghlan Province, its area of responsibility and conduct its missions.

EU Military Committee Meets at Chiefs of Defence Level in Brussels

On April 24 the European Union Military Committee convened in Brussels under the chairmanship of General Håkan Syrén (CEUMC), with the participation of the Chiefs of Defence of the 27 EU member states. Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the MoD Defence Staff headed the Hungarian delegation at the meeting of the highest military body of the EU. The conference was one in a series of EU events organized in preparation and support for the Chicago NATO Summit.

Brüsszelben tartotta soros vezérkarfőnöki értekezletét az EU Katonai Bizottsága

A huszonhét EU-tagállam vezérkarfőnökei április 24-én üléseztek Brüsszelben az EU Katonai Bizottsága elnöke (CEUMC), Håkan Syrén vezérezredes vezetésével. Az unió legfelsőbb szintű katonai testülete ülésén a magyar delegációt dr. Benkő Tibor vezérezredes, a Honvéd Vezérkar főnöke vezette. Az értekezlet egyike volt a chicagói NATO-csúcstalálkozót előkészítő és támogató európai uniós rendezvényeknek.

Lt.-Gen. Ralph Jodice II Visits Hungary

Lt.-Gen. Ralph Jodice II, the Commander of NATO Allied Air Command Headquarters Izmir paid an official working visit to Hungary. Brig.-Gen. Albert Sáfár, the Air Force Chief of the HDF Joint Force Command received the guest and the members of the delegation accompanying him – who were staying in Hungary between April 16 and 18 – at the Budapest Liszt Ferenc Airport.

A túlélés törvényei

Túlélőkiképzésen vettek részt a felderítő altiszti hallgatók április 10. és 12. között. Az elméleti és gyakorlati képzés megszervezését és végrehajtását az MH 5. Bocskai István Lövészdandár 24. Bornemissza Gergely Felderítő Zászlóalja kapta feladatul, helyszíne a dandár hajdúhadházi Vay Ádám Kiképzőbázisa volt.

Hungary Discusses Timeline for Drawdown of Forces from Afghanistan

This year Hungary is not planning to significantly reduce its contribution to the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, but it has started discussions with the allies on the timeline of the expected future drawdown – Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende told General John Allen, the Commander of ISAF in Brussels on April 18.

Afganisztánban a terep- és éghajlati viszonyok miatt a harcjárművek igen nagy igénybevételnek vannak kitéve. Az eszközök karbantartása alapvető és elsődleges feladat, hiszen megbízhatóan működő technika nélkül az MH Tartományi Újjáépítési Csoport (MH PRT) nem tudná a felelősségi területét, Baghlan tartományt bejárni és feladatait ellátni.
