Discussion Between Hungarian and Greek Chiefs of Defence

At the invitation of the Chief of the Hellenic National Defense General Staff, Gen. Mikhail Kostarakos, Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the Defence Staff paid a visit to Greece on September 10–11. At the meeting, the two partners discussed a number of current issues in the military relations of the two countries and the joint tasks to be executed in the framework of the Alliance.
Csaba Hende Participates in the Munich Security Policy Conference

Hungary is represented by Minister of Defence Csaba Hende at the 49th Munich Security Policy Conference held between 1st and 3rd February, 2013. This is one of the most prestigious international security policy conferences, which, as usual, examines the current issues in security and defence policy in an informal setting.
Colonel Tamás Sándor Appointed Deputy Chief of Staff

As from January 15, Col. Tamás Sándor, the commander of the Hungarian Defence Forces Special Operations Contingent fills the position of deputy chief of staff for operations and intelligence at the headquarters of Task Force 10, which directs the special operations forces (SOF) units in Afghanistan.
Defence Minister Csaba Hende Visits the Baltic States

Between January 16 and 18, Minister of Defence Csaba Hende is paying a three-day visit to the Baltic states at the invitation of the defence ministers of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. During his visit, he will meet his partners as well as the members of the defence committees of the Lithuanian and Latvian parliaments and the Estonian chief of defence. News and Information on the Role of the Hungarian Defence Forces in Afghanistan

The most important operational role of the Hungarian Defence Forces is the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) mission in Afghanistan. Therefore, to ensure appropriate information on this mission, a new webpage called “Hungary in Afghanistan” was launched in November 2012 on the Hungarian Government’s website. This webpage offers visitors news updates, background information, videos and photos on the activities of Hungarian troops in the mission.
New Capability in the Hungarian Defence Forces

The Hungarian Defence Forces have officially been declared to be able and qualified to use the full range of the so-called Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) capability, as both NATO and the United States of America have accredited the Hungarian JTAC capability, among the first ones in the world. The Ministry of Defence received the certificate of the capability this week. Press release.
Hungary Has Performed Excellently on Two NATO Exercises

Hungary has performed excellently on the annual NATO Crisis Management Exercise (CMX 12) and the cyber defence exercise Cyber Coalition 2012 as well – Brig.-Gen. (Eng.) Dr. József Tokovicz, the Director-General of the Ministry of Defence Defence Administration Office and Mihály Zala, the President of the National Security Authority announced in Budapest.

Minister of Defence Csaba Hende held talks with his Turkish partner, Turkish Minister of Defence Dr. İsmet Yilmaz in Ankara on November 8 and 9. The Hungarian minister arrived in the capital at the invitation of the Turkish side.
Hungarian–Slovakian Joint Commission Session in Budapest

The Hungarian–Slovakian Joint Commission dealing with military and other security policy issues held a session in the Ministry of Defence on Tuesday, November 22. Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende received Róbert Ondrejcsák, the State Secretary of the Slovakian Ministry of Defence in his office, and then began the session of the joint commission, which was led on the Hungarian side by Dr. István Simicskó, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Portfolio.
