“On August 20 we commemorate the work which marked the beginning of the homeland for us, Hungarians, since Hungary is the work of our King Saint Stephen, the founder of the state”, said Defence Minister Csaba Hende on August 16 at the central ceremony of the Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Defence Forces in Budapest.

The representatives of the Hungarian Defence Forces, a military delegation from the US Embassy in Budapest and the World War II American and British Military Heritage Association held a joint wreath-laying ceremony in Szigliget on Saturday, June 30. On the hill of the settlement near Lake Balaton, US and Hungarian war memorials keep alive the memory of the soldiers who fell in World War II.

Fighting Against the „Invisible Enemy”

On June 15 Lt.-Gen. Dr. Zoltán Orosz, the Deputy Chief of the MoD Defence Staff participated in the Újdörögd exercise of the NATO CSAT course. Held for the first time in Europe, the course focuses on enhancing the soldiers’ knowledge of counter-improvised explosive devices (C-IED) tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and developing their situational awareness.

Ready for the Mission in Cyprus

The Hungarian troops to deploy with UNFICYP in Cyprus have successfully completed their five-week training program in the HDF Peace Support Training Center and the military training area of Táborfalva. The culmination exercise (CULEX) of the training period was mounted on February 14-15 at Táborfalva. The members of the 31st rotation will leave for the divided insular country on the Mediterranean in mid-March.
