State Secretary Fodor participated in the opening of the three-day “Future Soldier" international military technology exhibition and conference in the Czech capital.

The exhibition presents a wide spectrum of developments in military technology and armored vehicles, and besides the manufacturers, the potential buyers are also present among the participants, including the high representatives of defence leaderships from several countries. Organized for the tenth time this year, the central topic of the Future Soldier Exhibition & Conference (FSEC) is cyber defence.

Hungary is represented at the event by Lajos Fodor, the Administrative State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, who we interviewed at the Hungarian stand. He said that “special attention must be paid to ensuring the launch of defence industry development projects in Hungary and the continuation of the already existing programs." He added that with the help of these, the soldiers of the Hungarian Defence Forces will be able to execute their tasks using Hungarian-developed and -manufactured equipment of high quality both in missions abroad and on trainings conducted in Hungary.

Czech Minister of Defence Alexandr Vondra opened the program of the FSEC on October 17. The speakers stressed the importance of cooperation in the field of defence industry. They drew attention to the fact that cooperation can help solve the problems arising from the reduction of defence spending, which is taking place everywhere. Among the important future-oriented forms of cooperation they mentioned the practice of Pooling and Sharing of resources and the concept of Smart Defence, a program to which NATO gives priority.

The topics in the focus of the “Future of Cyber" conference are cyber warfare – which presents an increasing threat – and the effective solutions for protection against it. During the program, Hungarian experts carried out a simulated hacker attack at the site of the exhibition and took the opportunity to share a number of professional details with the interested visitors.

The Czech capital is also hosting the annual congress of the European Military Press Association (EMPA), which is organized concurrently with the exhibition. Staff members from the MoD Press Office and the Zrínyi Media LTD are participating in the EMPA congress.
