The next rotations of the Air Advisory Team (AAT) and the Air Mentor Team (AMT) to deploy in Afghanistan and the students of the mission-specific basic staff officer course (MBSOC) have finished their pre-deployment training in the Hungarian Defence Forces Peace Support Training Center (Szolnok). The helicopter pilots and the ground crews participated in a peace operation target practice on March 6, while the students of the basic staff officer course practiced how to provide on-scene medical treatment to casualties in accidents.

Currently training is under way for the personnel of the AMT and the AAT that are going to deploy in the theatre of war in Afghanistan to train the crews of attack and transport helicopters, and also for the officers and NCOs to be posted to fill individual positions in NATO and EU staffs in the Balkans Joint Operations Area (JOA). The designated commander of the next AMT rotation is Col. József Koller, while that of the AAT rotation is Lt.-Col. Miklós Szabó, and the senior officer of the MBSOC is Lt.-Col. György Miklósi.

During the range day held on March 6, the members of the next AAT and AMT rotations executed the peace operation target practices No.1 and 2 by firing pistols and assault rifles. Out of the 18-man group, 13 soldiers completed target practice No.1 with excellent results using assault rifles, while four did the same with pistols. During target practice No.2, 13 soldiers using assault rifles and 14 ones using pistols were rated as excellent.

While taking part in classroom activities, the students of the MBSOC had basic-level emergency first responder training and were introduced to the techniques of treating casualties in traffic accidents. In what followed, they practiced pulling a “real" injured soldier out of a vehicle that had “crashed" in an accident.
