By the end of November, the Ninth Rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent was over the half of its mission, but they spent the month with hard work. As it is known from the news, local elections were held in Kosovo in November. In the course of this the KFOR units – among them the Hungarian-Portuguese KFOR Tactical Manoeuvre Reserve Battalion (KTM) – discharged force protection duties.

On this occasion Kosovo Force Commander (COM KFOR) Major General Salvatore Farina revisited the Battalion, and awarded distinctions to the soldiers participating in the operations, thanking for their disciplined and professional task-execution.

During the month several KFOR subunits were involved in the “fire-phobia" trainings organised by the KTM Battalion, such as the Slovenian, the Austrian, the Moroccan, as well as the French service members paid a visit to Cam Slim Lines. These preparatory exercises offer an excellent opportunity for the Hungarian soldiers for teamwork with the peacekeepers of other nations.

While performing the round-the-clock patrolling duties, the soldiers were ever more exposed to the turning of the seasons: they had to execute their tasks in an increasingly cold weather. Then at the end of November, winter set in with two-days of snowing in Kosovo.

The soldiers coming from the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade and from other units of the Hungarian Defence Forces are waiting for the holidays in a real winter atmosphere, and continue with their service in a distance of many hundreds of kilometres far from their Homeland.
