On Tuesday, July 9 a total of 156 Hungarian soldiers who had fallen in World War II were reburied in the Hungarian plot of the German war cemetery at Potelic, Ukraine.

The mortal remains of the dead Hungarian soldier heroes were found last summer, when the German War Graves Commission (Volksbund Deutsche Kriegsgräberfürsorge) conducted exhumations at the one-time German–Hungarian war cemetery in the town of Ivano-Frankivsk.

During the dignified reburial ceremony, first the local Greek Catholic vicar and a choir said the last farewell to the Hungarian soldiers, then the Hungarian chaplains paid the last funeral honors to the dead heroes. Consul General István Tóth (Berehove) and Consul Béla Bozsik (Uzhhorod) laid wreaths on behalf of the Hungarian diplomatic corps.
