Nine service members of EUTM Mali recently participated in a medal parade which closed the mission. The six-strong sniper trainer team and the staff of three working in the ROLE-2 hospital have completed their tour of duty in the training camp, which is situated at Koulikoro, 60 kilometers north of Bamako.

At the ceremony, Colonel Telstar, the French camp commander thanked the Hungarian Senior National Representative for the work of the Hungarians, and decorated the personnel in recognition of the successfully accomplished mission. The training conducted under African circumstances was made especially difficult by the 50 degrees Celsius heat in the first four months and the rainy season that started in the last two months. The Hungarian troops, however, braved the tropical climate and the threats posed to them, and have completed the training for the first two combined task forces with excellent results.

Beyond the training of snipers, the members of the Hungarian team were instrumental in organizing range days and exercises, and helped the success of the work by acting as role-players. Having completed their six-month tour of duty, they have commenced returning home.
