After an earlier aid package, with assistance from the HDF KFOR Contingent, the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid has now delivered another set of donations to hard-fated disabled persons living in Kosovo.

More than 900 handicapped persons – most of them physically disabled, including about 120 children – live in Podujevo, where the Hungarian soldiers regularly conduct presence patrolling. In cooperation with the local NGO dedicated to assist handicapped and disabled persons, the aid package – which consists of special accessories, vitamins, preserved food and clothes – has been delivered to where it was most needed.

The local leaders of the NGO told Reformed Field Chaplain Capt. Szilárd Sajtos, the acting representative of the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid, that there was an especially great need for wheelchairs and wheeled walking frames, which significantly improve the living conditions of disabled people. They also told him that the present one has been the biggest aid package they have received since their establishment, and that those in need would start using the special aids right away, for which they are very grateful.

The Hungarian Reformed Church Aid has a twofold objective with this aid. In addition to helping the needy people of Kosovo, the aim is to have the locals accept the presence of Hungarian troops in the areas regularly patrolled by the Hungarian peacekeepers.
