Minister of Defence Received Germany’s New Ambassador to Budapest

H.E. Mr. Volkmar Wenzel, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Budapest arrived for an introductory courtesy call to Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő on Tuesday, July 17.

In the meeting the Minister said that Germany is a key ally to our country, the Hungarian-German military-to-military and military diplomatic relations are excellent, which are based on a successful operational co-operation in Afghanistan, in the Balkans and in Iraq, and our joint capability development efforts. The Minister has also emphasised the exemplary co-operation in the military-health area.

Dr. Tibor Benkő pointed out that thanks to the Zrínyi 2026 National Defence and Armed Forces Development Program the defence industrial co-operation received a new impetus, which resulted in the signature of an agreement, between the Hungarian Ministry of Defence and the French-German AIRBUS firm on the Acquisition of 20 new, light multipurpose Airbus military helicopters on June 29, 2018.
