Minister of Defence Receives German Ambassador

On Friday, 23 February in Budapest, Minister of Defence Dr. István Simicskó received, on a courtesy call, Volkmar Wenzel, the ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Budapest.

The ambassador paying an introductory visit presented his letter of credence to President of Hungary János Áder on 6 September 2017.

At the meeting, Dr. István Simicskó said that Germany is a key partner and important ally for Hungary, and the Hungarian–German relations are excellent in the military field as well.

Furthermore, the Defence Minister emphasized that due to a radical change in Europe’s security situation, we must enhance the effectiveness of European defence. The wide-ranging military cooperation with Germany must be further maintained, and the possibilities of further bilateral cooperation must be sought. He added that every type of professional cooperation, including joint exercises, strengthens the security of Europe and European citizens.
