Receiving American Guests

Thigpen recently paid a visit to the NATO Force Integration Unit Hungary (NFIU HUN) in Székesfehérvár. The high-ranking guest was accompanied on his visit by the new Chief of the Office of Defense Cooperation in Budapest, Colonel Brittany Stewart.
The high-level delegation was greeted by Colonel László Garas, the commander of NFIU HUN, and informed its members about the mission and main tasks of the organization, its legal status and manning, and also about its history and milestone achievements in the past. Regarding 2018, he highlighted that among its other tasks, the NFIU HUN will invest significant efforts in the refinement of the Host Nation and RSOM support concept and will also contribute to the harmonization of national, NATO and US operational planning.
Following a tour of the NFIU HUN facility and meeting the staff members, Brig.-Gen. Thigpen – who have visited other NFIUs recently – evaluated the visit as a very beneficial and informative one.
He stated that NATO remains a strong, capable organization and that the US forces stationed in Hungary are fully committed to foster and further deepen the cooperation between the allied partners.
