A meeting was held in Budapest for the NATO Chiefs of Staff, Central Europe, in the co-organisation of Hungary. The festive opening of the conference was staged in the Hotel Meridien Monday morning, December 12.

Upon the joint invitation of Admiral James G. Stavridis, Commander, U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) and Gen. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of MoD Defence Staff the highest ranking soldiers of their respective countries appeared from the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. In addition to the representatives of the aforementioned countries, the US military attachés accredited to these countries were also invited, who took part in the conference as well.

In the course of the event the negotiations focused on the concepts of the invitees about the current situation of the region, on NATO’s efforts exerted for the security of the region, and the visions of the participating countries following the termination of the ISAF mission in 2014. Beyond the discussion of the above-mentioned topics the meeting provided an excellent opportunity for the conduct of bilateral talks between the representatives of the invited countries.
