Load Diffuser 2010: International Exercise In Kecskemét

Szöveg: honvedelem.hu |  2010. április 27. 6:48

Between 26 April – May 7, an international exercise is conducted at the HDF 59th ‘Dezsõ Szentgyörgyi’ Air Base in Kecskemét. The aim of Load Diffuser 2010 is to share best practices and learn from each other’s techniques and procedures, furthermore to improve pilots’ ability to meet NATO air policing commitments.

On the Hungarian part, JAS–39 Gripen and MiG–29 Fulcrum fighter planes and various anti-aircraft equipments will participate in the exercise, while eight F–16 fighters will represent the 178th Fighter Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard.

A similar exercise was conducted two years ago. Back then the F–15 Eagles of the Louisiana Air National Guard participated in the joint maneuvers. The American planes and their crew are perfect partners for the Hungarian party hosting the exercise, for as a result of their cooperation there is an opportunity to practice attack and defence operations individually and in formation, and to make anti-aircraft command units practice as well.

The United States also considers it important to participate in this exercise since it is another excellent opportunity for cooperation with Hungary and building alliance capabilities together along common security interests. Personnel participating in the exercise will be using airspaces designated for the aviation tasks. During the two weeks, this will concern the region of the following cities: in the western part of the country Pécs, Kaposvár, Baja, Nagykanizsa, Zalaegerszeg, Keszthely, Szombathely; in the east Eger, Miskolc, Debrecen, Füzesabony, Kazincbarcika, Hajdúszoboszló. Both the crew and the pilots of the US party participating in the exercise will observe the strict – civilian and military – rules and regulations when planning and executing the flights.

Pilots will adhere to aviation rules such as altitude limitations. The leaders of the base have informed the locals about the possible exposure to noise in this period and contacted sports aviation sections and civil aviation clubs as well to tell them about flight restrictions.

The Ohio Air National Guard will arrive with eight F–16s and their crews to Kecskemét. They came to Hungary in 2001 for the first time, back then they deployed to Taszár during the exercise.
