May Day – EUFOR-Style

Thanks to the successfully accomplished training tasks and exercises during the last weeks and months, the commander of the Multinational Battalion – the maneuver element of EUFOR, the peacekeeping mission in Bosnia-Herzegovina – declared May 1 an off-duty day, so the soldiers of the HDF EUFOR Contingent were able to organize sports competitions for themselves.

Lt.-Col. Tamás Papp, the commander of the contingent opened the sporting day. WO László Balogh, the Command Sergeant Major of the infantry company made sure that everybody warmed up thoroughly.

The participants had opportunity to compete by taking up mental and physical challenges, since the events included chess, table soccer, tug of war, footballtennis, bench press, volleyball as well as 3700 meter and 3×1000 meter relay races.

The excitement of the competition, the spirit of contest, the games and the happy minutes spent together have strengthened camaraderie and friendship among the members of the contingent and the home-like feeling of togetherness.
