They received classroom instruction for a week, and then moved to the military training area of the “Vay Ádám” Training Base, Hajdúhadház to put into practice what they had learnt.
Maj. Lajos Asztalos, the head of the battalion’s training department told us that the lessons
learned at the tactical methodology practice – which was organized for the entire Hungarian
Defence Forces last August – provide a uniform coverage of topics for the training sessions.
The training and certification of squad leaders and their deputies were implemented by the
guidelines set out during the practice.
“Last week the squads were practicing the basics of combined-arms fighting in built-
up areas (FIBUA), the squad leaders’ duties in defence, attack and march security, and
they had to hold field briefings in a standard format as well. The training for the NATO
CREVAL is going to continue in mid-February with developing platoon-level unit cohesion
in Hajdúhadház, the department head added.
