Soldier From Hódmezõvásárhely To Receive War Sabre
Szöveg: Mónika Láda | 2010. március 23. 6:51Dr. János Lázár, the mayor of Hódmezõvásárhely and chairman of the Defence and Internal Security Committee of the National Assembly, and Brigadier General Dr. Gábor Böröndi, Commander, HDF 5th ’István Bocskai’ Infantry Brigade, presented Sergeant First Class János Antal with a war sabre for his distinguished conduct in Afghanistan.
The award was presented on March 17 in Hódmezõvásárhely, during the standing reception following the welcome back ceremony for the 7th rotation of the Provincial Reconstruction Team.
Sergeant First Class János Antal was born on September 5, 1978 in Szombathely. He attended elementary school in Rábahídvég, then he continued his studies at the Military Secondary School in Szabadszállás. He was commissioned a professional sergeant on July 25, 1998. After the completion of his studies, between 1998 and 2004 he was serving in Szombathely, and from 2004 until 2007 he was serving in Kecskemét in various positions. With the transformation of the military, he has been dispatched to Hódmezõvásárhely, where he is the commander of the 1st infantry squad, 1st infantry platoon, 2nd infantry company, HDF 5/3 ’Miklós Bercsényi’ Infantry Battalion. In 2007, he moved to Hódmezõvásárhely where he owns a flat. He likes living in Vásárhely, from his stations, this is the town that is closest to his heart.
He signed up for the 7th rotation of the HDF PRT in 2009, and he has shown an outstanding performance since the beginning of the preparation. It was the first time he served abroad. During the mission he was the commander of the 2nd squad of the 1st Guard and Support Platoon, Guard and Support Company. His performance was outstanding, he has looked after his subordinates properly, and set a good example to others.
