NATO Conference in Budapest
Szöveg: hungariandefence.com | 2011. június 3. 9:48Air delegates from some 40 countries and subject matter experts (SMEs) from the NATO member states as well as the Partnership for Peace (PfP) and the Mediterranean Dialogue (MD) countries arrived in Budapest to participate in the conference of the NATO Air Traffic Management Committee (NATMC), a body directly subordinated to the North Atlantic Council.
The NATMC holds two meetings each year. The permanent venue for one of the conferences is Brussels, while the other is arranged in some of the member states in an annual rotation. In 2010, the conference took place in the Czech Republic, and the NATMC Spring 2011 Budapest Meeting was hosted by Hungary.
The delegates attended two sessions per day. One of these was a plenary session for the representatives of NATO and the partner countries, while the other was held exclusively for the delegates of NATO member states. The NATMC session was complemented by a number of professional programs, including a visit to the centre of HungaroControl, the Hungarian Air Navigation Services Pte. Ltd. Co.
The NATMC is primarily responsible for developing the security of air operations, and is the senior advisory body on matters related to airspace use and air traffic management in NATO. It has two subordinate groups, which are responsible for communications, navigation and surveillance. The Committee has an outstanding role in the normalization process of airspace use in the Balkans and Afghanistan.
