New Commander in Camp Butmir

That’s the second time it’s happened that a Hungarian Senior Officer has transferred the full spectrum of the Camp Commandant’s authority to another Hungarian senior officer, which is an outstanding event not only for the Deputy Head of Division of HDF APTC, but also in the history of the mission. Besides the camp’s command the HQ Camp Commandant is responsible for the organisation, control of the guarding and security tasks, for the compliance with the international standards, the nutrition of soldiers, the maintenance of the facilities, i.e. the implementation of the “real" logistic support.

Lieutenant Colonel Balogh, the senior officer of the HDF Command Logistics and Management Directorate launched important development processes in 2018 to improve the camp residents’ living conditions. This meant the building of bridges, the acquisition of new kitchen equipment, the renovation of the canteen, and the camp’s hostels and accommodation quarters, as well as the new sports facility for the soldiers on tour of duty abroad.

Lieutenant Colonel Balogh said that he would like to continue with the work already begun by maintaining the excellent co-operation formed in the past years both with the leading organs of the EUFOR and NATO Commands, and also with the nations serving in the camp.
