A román földrajzi gondolat

Szemügyre véve a románságot néhány évszázad leforgása alatt érintő politikai területváltozások számát és mértékét, könnyen belátható, hogy a geopolitika méltán vált a román politikai és közgondolkodás egyik legfontosabb alapkövévé. A háború ok-okozati összefüggéseit kereső tudományok közül a geográfia azzal tűnt ki, hogy képes volt az oknyomozó szemlélet érvényesítésére. Ez eredményezte az emberföldrajz és a politikai földrajz kialakulását, és végső soron a geopolitika megszületését. Az új „tudomány”, bár tudományos voltáról mindmáig nincs egyetértés, szinte átsöpört Európán, beleértve Magyarországot és Romániát. A szocialista időszakban a geopolitikáról még csak beszélni sem lehetett, kivéve, ha az ellenlábas imperialista világ „tudománytalan” nézeteinek elítéléséről volt szó. A román geopolitikai gondolkodás mélyebb ismerete még integrációs világunkban is kívánatos lenne, különösen akkor, ha egyik szomszédunkról van szó, amely a legnagyobb számú magyar nemzetiségű lakosságnak ad otthont. Hiánypótló a román geopolitikai iskola történetével foglalkozó feldolgozás, amelynek alapvető módszere és eszköze a forrásfeltárás és közlés.

Romanian Geographical Thought

In view of the number and extent of territorial changes affecting the Romanian people for political reasons in the space of just a few centuries, it is easy to see that geopolitics has become one of the most important cornerstones of Romanian political and public thinking with good reason. Geography has gained an important position among other branches of science exploring the causality of war, because it was able to adopt an investigative approach. This resulted in the emergence of human geography and political geography, and the birth of geopolitics after all, although to the present day there is no consensus on whether it is a science or not. The new “science„ almost swept over Europe, including Hungary and Romania. In the Socialist era, geopolitics was a taboo subject, except on those occasions when the “unscholarly” views of the opposing imperialistic world were condemned. Yet, it would be desirable to acquire a more thorough knowledge of the Romanian geopolitical thinking in our world of integration, all the more so because Romania, our neighbour is home to the largest number of ethnic Hungarian population. The fundamental method and tool of this much-needed book dealing with the history of the Romanian geopolitical school is the exploration and publication of the sources.

Építünk, védünk, alkotunk

A harc megvívása során az elsők között alkalmazzák a különböző rendeltetésű műszaki alegységeket. Ők azok akik átjárókat nyitnak az aknamezőkön, végrehajtják a terep akadálymentesítését, átkelőhelyeket rendeznek be és tartanak fenn. A klasszikus műszaki támogatási feladatok végrehajtása mellett a műszaki katonák részt vesznek béketámogató műveletekben, a katasztrófák elleni védekezésben. Kiveszik részüket a NATO-felajánlások teljesítéséből és folyamatosan végzik az ország területén lőszerek, robbanótestek felkutatását, hatástalanítását és megsemmisítését. A szerzők bemutatják a sokirányú feladat végzésére szakosodott csapatokat: az utász-, a hidász-, a pontonos, a deszant-, az állásépítő, a vízellátó, álcázó-, aknatelepítő-, a búvár, tűzszerész- és hadihajós alakulatokat és felszereléseiket. E gazdagon illusztrált mű hézagpótló jelentőségű, mert a magyar műszaki csapatokról eddig még nem készült ilyen átfogó leírás.

Building, Defending and Creating

In combat, the engineer subunits of different missions are among the first to be deployed. They are the ones who open minefield lanes, remove obstacles from the field, arrange and maintain crossings. Besides performing the classic engineer support tasks, engineers participate in peace support operations and in disaster management. They take part in the fulfilment of NATO-commitments, and continuously do their duties related to searching, identifying, neutralising and destroying the ammunition and unexploded explosive ordnance (UXO) in the area of the country. The authors present the troops specialised in these very diverse range of tasks: the field engineer, the floating bridge, the amphibious, the fortification, the water supply, the camouflage, the mine laying, the diver, the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) and the warship units as well as their equipment. This richly illustrated work is much needed because there has not yet been written such an all-embracing description of the Hungarian engineer troops.

A vasmadarak gyógyítói

Az MH Légijármű Javítóüzem több mint hat évtizedes fennállása során a légierő műszaki, technikai hátterének biztosításán, az igénybevétel feltételeinek megteremtésén dolgozik. Mind a múltban, mind a jelenben rátermettségükről tesznek tanúbizonyságot nemcsak itthon, hanem akár több ezer kilométerre hazánktól. Rendkívül szerteágazó és nagy pontosságot igénylő feladat végrehajtásaiknak köszönhető a repülőeszközök mindennapos üzemképessége és hadrafoghatósága. A szakterületükön elért sikerekre méltán lehetnek büszkék. Munkavégzésük szakszerűségén azonban nemcsak a repülőgépek állapota, de a személyzet élete is múlik. Az MH Légijármű Javítóüzem állományának életét és munkáját mutatja be ez a könyv, melyet ajánljuk mindazoknak a figyelmébe, akik érdeklődnek a Magyar Honvédség és a katonai repülés iránt.

Healers of All Aircraft A vasmadarak gyógyítói

In the more than 60 years since its establishment, the Hungarian Defence Forces Aircraft Repair Plant (HDF ARP) has been working on providing the technological background of the air force, and on creating the conditions of the utilisation. As in the past, so in the present, they prove their talent and suitability both at home and at locations many thousands of kilometres away from our homeland. With their responsible work, the HDF ARP greatly contributes to the day by day combat-readiness and operable condition of all aircraft used in the fleet of the Hungarian Air Force. They have every reason to be proud of their achievements in this special field. The condition of airplanes, moreover the life of the flight crew depends on the proficiency of their working performance. The book introduces the life and work of the HDF Aircraft Repair Plant’s personnel, which we warmly recommend to all those, who take an interest in the Hungarian Defence Forces and in military aviation.

1456, 1956/555 éve, 55 éve

1456-ban – fél évezrede a kontinens szerves részeként – hazánk a kereszténység pajzsaként hősiesen védte meg Nándorfehérvárnál Európát a szultán hatalmas seregével szemben, valószínűtlen győzelmet aratva. E győzelem óta a keresztény világban Magyarországért szólnak a harangok minden délben, nemzeti hőseinkre emlékeztetve. Ötszáz évvel Nándorfehérvár ostroma után, 1956 őszén a magyarok egy elnyomó és brutális kommunista rezsim ellen fogtak fegyvert. A „pesti srácok” a végső győzelem esélye nélkül vették fel a harcot Budapest utcáin a forradalom eltiprására érkező szovjet csapatokkal. 555 éve több nemzet fiai páratlan példamutatással fogtak össze Európa védelméért, 55 éve azonban Európa cserben hagyta vérző testű gyermekét. E könyvben Nándorfehérvárra és a déli harangszóra, a magyar Szent Koronára, valamint Budapestre és a szabadság vérbe fojtott, de elfojthatatlan szavára emlékezünk Bartoniek Emma történész, Pálosfalvi Tamás és Horváth Miklós hadtörténészek műveivel. A könyv színes képekkel gazdagon illusztrált, és From the Noon bell to the Lads of Pest címen angol nyelven is megjelent.

1456, 1956 – 555 Years, 55 Years

Already an integral “piece of the continent” for half a thousand years, in 1456 our country as the “shield of Christianity” heroically defended Europe against the sultan’s huge army at the castle of Nándorfehérvár (Belgrade), winning a breathtaking victory. Since that victory, throughout the Christian world the bells toll for Hungary at noon every day, commemorating the heroes of our nation. 500 years after the siege of Nándorfehérvár, in the autumn of 1956, Hungarians took up arms against an oppressive and brutal communist regime. This time the „lads of Pest” engaged the invading Soviet troops sent to crush the revolution on the streets of Budapest without having the chance for a final victory. 555 years ago the sons of many nations joined forces with an exemplary attitude for the defence of Europe, but 55 years ago Europe abandoned its bleeding child. In this book we pay tribute to the memory of Nándorfehérvár and the noon bell, the Hungarian Holy Crown, as well as Budapest, and the insuppressible word of freedom, even if suppressed with bloodshed – through the works of historian Emma Bartoniek and war historians Tamás Pálosfalvi and Miklós Horváth. The book is richly illustrated with colour photographs, and has already been published in Hungarian language, entitled Nándorfehérvártól a Corvin közig.
