Equal Opportunities Camp for Disadvantaged Youth

Between 4 and 10 July, the HR Department of the Ministry of Defence and the National Roma Self-government organizes an Equal Opportunities Camp in Tata, at the HDF 25th ‘Klapka György’ Infantry Brigade. The program is meant to raise awareness of equal opportunities, in accordance with the objectives laid down in ministerial directives, and to present and demonstrate the Ministry’s special activities and professional work related to equal opportunities. MoD Cabinet Chief Dr. Gábor Szarka opened the camp on Monday, July 4.

At Home Again After Six Months

Family members and relatives greeted the Hungarian troops of the fifth rotation of the HDF Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (HDF OMLT), who have recently returned from the area of operations. The “Welcome Home” ceremony was held on Thursday, June 30 inside the ‘Klapka György’ Barracks in Tata, where Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende delivered a speech.

Festival of Military Bands – In Tata for the Fourth Time

The Water, Music, Flower Festival of Tata has “come of age”. On June 24-25 the Transdanubian town organized its 18th summer festival. In recent years, the 25th ’Klapka György’ Infantry Brigade, the unit of the Hungarian Defence Forces stationed at the town and the Tatabánya Recruitment and Advocacy Bureau of the HDF Western Hungarian Augmentation Command also joined the program of the festival, which is traditionally held on the last weekend of June. The regional festival of military bands took place on the same weekend in the ‘Town of Waters’ in the last three years. This year, the bandsmen paraded in the centre of Tata on June 25.

EUFOR has a New Deputy Commander

A ceremony to mark the handover of the position of EUFOR Deputy Commander/Chief of Staff (DCOM/COS) and the responsibilities of the Hungarian Senior National Representative (SNR) took place on Tuesday, June 28 in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo. The event marked the formal transfer of authority (TOA) from Brig.-Gen. Tibor Nagy – who has served as DCOM/COS for 17 months – to Brig.-Gen. Zoltán Gulyás. Maj.-Gen. József Kovács, Commander, Hungarian Defence Forces Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) also attended the ceremony.

HDF EUFOR Contingent: This Happened in May

Stationed in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo, the troops of the HDF EUFOR contingent had a busy month in May. They participated in the change of command ceremony at the Austrian-led multinational battalion (MNBN), went on a company-level complex tactical exercise and arranged a National Day to mark the Day of the Hungarian Defence Forces.

HDF Operations and Doctrine Centre: New Tasks

As of April 28, the HDF Operations and Doctrine Centre has taken over the tasks related to standardization and doctrine development from the Force Planning Directorate of the HDF Defence Staff. Lt-Gen. Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of Defence was also present at the ceremony where the record of transfer was signed.

“The Army Band is Playing on Stefánia”

The Hungarian Defence Forces Central Orchestra gave a carnival concert on the last Sunday of February in Stefánia Palace, Budapest. During the first concert of the three-part interactive concert series “The army band is playing on Stefánia” the orchestra was playing popular tunes. Before the performance, the audience could try the brass instruments.
