Besides carrying out their core duties, during the last few weeks the troops serving with the maneuver company of the HDF KFOR-4 Contingent held a several-day Crowd and Riot Control (CRC) training exercise for peacekeepers of other nations at Camp Slim Lines, Pristina.

Lt-Col. Sándor Szabó, the commander of the KFOR-4 HUNCON told us that in the past few weeks the personnel of the Hungarian maneuver company had a single additional task besides their primary duties. Between June 14 and 17, the Hungarians organized Crowd and Riot Control (CRC) training exercises for Turkish and Moroccan peacekeepers.

This was not the first time that the Hungarian soldiers had been requested to hold CRC training sessions for the contingents of other troop contributing nations in KFOR, Lt-Col. Szabó added, noting that these requests show that the Hungarians serving in Kosovo have an outstanding professional track record in this field.

Talking about the training exercise, Lt. Viktor Teleki, the leader of the 1st rifle platoon of the maneuver company told us that two Turkish and a Moroccan platoon of the KFOR Tactical Reserve (TACRES) Battalion had arrived in Camp Slim Lines, Pristina to participate in the training program organized by the Hungarians. The training objective is to enable efficient cooperation between the troops of the three nations in executing CRC tasks in real-life situations.

We were informed that one month ago the Hungarian personnel serving in Kosovo held a similar training exercise for US troops. Furthermore, the representatives of the French, Austrian, German and Slovenian contingents were present at the latest training exercise as observers, and made it clear that they intend to participate in future CRC training programs organized by the Hungarians.
