Kosovo Schools Receive Assistance for Language Teaching

Three educational institutions in Kosovo recently received close to 1,000 quality and modern English textbooks and workbooks. The HDF KFOR Contingent has helped delivering a donation of the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid to the local students. Thanks to the new books, they can now learn the language much more efficiently than before.

Hungarian Soldier Wins Cavalry Charge Competition

A Hungarian proved to be the best out of more than 400 entrants: Capt. András Avar has won the 15.8 kilometre race organized by the US 38th Cavalry Regiment in Kosovo. The US regiment currently deployed in Kosovo organized the Cavalry Charge “Ruck and Run” for troops serving with KFOR, to commemorate the feats of the unit in World War II.

Disabled Persons Receive Aid Again from Charity Organization

After an earlier aid package, with assistance from the HDF KFOR Contingent, the Hungarian Reformed Church Aid has now delivered another set of donations to hard-fated disabled persons living in Kosovo.

Commander’s Visit to Kosovo

At the invitation of Maj.-Gen. Salvatore Farina, the outgoing commander of KFOR, Maj.-Gen Sándor Fucsku, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command recently visited Kosovo to participate in the change of command ceremony there. After the ceremony, the major-general met the Hungarian soldiers serving in the area of operations at Camp Slim Lines and Camp Novo Selo.

Reaching Full Operational Capability

The augmented HDF KFOR Contingent has reached full operational capability (FOC). During a validation exercise held on August 23, the Hungarian peacekeepers demonstrated to an international committee their readiness to execute peacekeeping tasks. (Photo story).

Prepared for All Contingencies

Training is in full swing for the two maneuver companies of the Hungarian KFOR Contingent. Having arrived in Kosovo over the last few weeks, the soldiers are mainly practicing crowd riot control (CRC) tasks, including the actions to be taken in case of a Molotov cocktail attack.

Eleventh Rotation Arrives in Kosovo

More than 300 Hungarian soldiers have arrived in Kosovo in three phases during a single week to start their six-month tour of duty abroad. Acting on the request of NATO, the Hungarian Defence Forces are increasing their presence in the region by around 120 more personnel in the incoming rotation.
