The HDF EUFOR Contingent (EUFOR-11 HUNCON) organized the Military Skill Competition in Camp Butmir, Sarajevo on August 3. Apart from the Hungarians, the members of the armed forces of Austria, Romania and Turkey participated in the challenging competition. The 15 teams matched their strength, swiftness and endurance in a total of eight events.

Comprising six soldiers each, the teams were assigned military tasks in the morning hours. The organizers arranged the program to include, among others, the events “Pull the Mog" (pulling an Unimog all-terrain vehicle), “Rescue Me!" (carrying the injured fellows), “Hit the Pile" (driving piles) and “Saw Men" (sawing).

As the participants had to wear full military gears in the scorching heat, the accomplishment of the tasks presented them with challenges in terms of agility as well as physical and mental stamina.

In the afternoon, the Military Skill Competition continued with sporting skill trials. The soldiers changed into sportswear to take part in the following events: “Snail Cycle" (cycling), “Blow the Ball" (blowing a table tennis ball), “Push and Carry" (pushing a wheelbarrow) and “Run Forrest Run" (running race with medicine ball).

The competition finished with a victory ceremony where the three best teams received awards. The prizes were handed over by Brig.-Gen. Péter Ernő Siposs (EUFOR chief of staff), Lt.-Col. Thomas Holzbauer (MNBN commander) and Lt.-Col. Gábor Bartók (EUFOR-11 HUNCON commander). Of all the Hungarian teams, the “No Name" team achieved the best results and was placed second.
