The simplest way to explain the Smart Energy approach is through energy saving. The main goal is to make sure that soldiers utilize all available energy sources – from flashlight batteries fitted on small arms to generators powering operating rooms – to the greatest extent possible. To this end, the experts of the Smart Energy MILU deployed on Exercise Capable Logistician 2015 are working to provide resources for all nations and units that are running out of them in the Bakony training area. During their first test, they responded to a power cut in a ROLE-1 level First Aid Tent.
After receiving the request for assistance, the Smart Energy leaders decided to send a mobile power source, a solar panel on a trailer to the First Aid Tent in need. The solar panel used on the exercise can be packed in a couple of minutes, and the amount of power generated by half of it would be sufficient to supply an average household.
When the trailer arrived, the experts installed the solar panel in no time, and it started working immediately, powering the lights and instruments of the First Aid Tent.
