For the Safety of Transportation

MoD State Secretary for Public Administration Lajos Fodor, Chief of the MoD Defence Staff Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő and Dr. Loránd Becske, the Director-General of the Transportation Safety Bureau (TSB) signed an agreement on Wednesday, July 13 in the Manfred Wörner Room of the Ministry of Defence.

Following the signing ceremony Lajos Fodor, the State Secretary for Public Administration of the Ministry of Defence said: this agreement will have an important role in preventing aircraft accidents in the first place, but it will also contribute to the professional training of the MoD and the TSB subject matter experts (SMEs). Similarly to the practice of the previous years, the two organizations will jointly investigate air disasters, and continue to collaborate in order to avoid them.

“I am confident that this agreement will serve as a firm foundation for our professional cooperation for a long time to come" – said the State Secretary.

Gen. Tibor Benkő also stressed the importance of preventive measures when praising the significance of the long-awaited agreement. He pointed out that objectives and intentions were shared, and strengthening cooperation between the civilian and the military spheres will remain a priority.

Director-General Loránd Becske referred to the good relations between the Ministry of Defence, the Hungarian Defence Forces, and the organization under his direction since 2006, which have now been laid down in this contract. Inquiries into aircraft accidents will be conducted by the Transportation Safety Bureau in the future as well, but the Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Defence Forces will assist its work with providing data, furthermore they will co-organise the further education courses for their SMEs.
