Tibor Benkő Received the Deputy Minister of Defence of Saudi Arabia on a Courtesy Visit
Szöveg: Ministry of Defence | 2019. március 12. 14:28Hungary can play an important role in the creation of the defence industrial capacity of Saudi Arabia – the statement was made after the Tuesday’s meeting of Tibor Benkő, Minister of Defence and Mr. Mohammad Abdullah Alayeesh, Deputy Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Hungary considers Saudi Arabia one of the key countries in the region both in the economic, the cultural and also in the intellectual fields – Tibor Benkő stated. Minister of Defence said that as a determining factor of the Gulf region’s security – Saudi Arabia can play a crucial role in the settlement of the region’s crises, and in the strengthening of its stability. The Minister praised the reform program Vision 2030, which aims to transform Saudi Arabia’s economy and society, and seeks to respond a number of challenges of the 21st century.
The relations of Hungary and Saudi Arabia have undergone spectacular development both in the political and in the economic areas in the past few years – the Minister pointed out. Tibor Benkő said: "I trust that Mr. Assistant Minister’s visit will be useful, and it will open the way for further co-operation. The defence industry could be a promising area, let us explore the opportunities."
Mr. Mohammad Alayeesh gave detailed information about the results achieved so far in and the prospects of setting up the military industrial capabilities in the light of the Program Vision 2030, and then he offered an overview of the involvement opportunities regarding the Zrínyi 2026 National Defence and Armed Forces Development Program. Tibor Benkő and his Saudi partner agreed that education and training are as well the potential fields (IMOC, English language courses) of the military-to-military co-operation.
