The HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HDF PRT) has successfully completed one of the most important medium term projects in the last period. An inaugural ceremony was held to open a new clinic in the village of Shek Jalal in Baghlani Jadid district, the construction of which has been financed by the HDF PRT. In the future the Afghan Ministry of Health will fund the operation of the hospital.

There was a great demand for the construction of a hospital providing basic medical care in the eastern part of Baghlani Jadid because this is the most densely populated area in the province, but similarly to the general situation, there are only a few medical treatment facilities. There are thousands of families living in and around the town and until now the only place where they had access to medical treatment was the central hospital of the district, but getting there takes hours. With the construction of the new hospital, the inhabitants can consult the future doctors and medical staff of the institution on the spot.

It signifies the importance of the event that the governor of the district, the leader of the local shura, and every Afghan leader in the region were present at the inaugural ceremony, and the Hungarian reconstruction team was represented by Colonel László Szabó, HDF PRT Commander. Despite the snow and the cold weather many locals came and honoured the event with their presence. By formally cutting the ribbon Col. Szabó and the district governor opened the gates of the institute and the clinic symbolically started to operate. Actual work and the treatment of patients will also begin soon, the medical staff has been selected and the most necessary equipments are already available, therefore they can receive the first patients in a few days.

In the future, the Afghan Ministry of Health will finance the operation of the hospital, but the HDF PRT and the NGO called Aid4Life also plan to support the institution with donations, surgical instruments, and medical equipments.
