By the decision of the World Jiu-Jitsu Federation, Jiu-Jitsu Master Maj. Károly Kovács, a PT instructor of the Military PT and Sports Center of the National Public Service University, Faculty of Military Science and Officer Cadet Training received the 6th dan Grandmaster grade at the regional dan examinations and international master course held in Baden-Württemberg, Germany on March 24.

Because Mr. Kovács is a member of the German Dan College (Deutsches Dan Kollegium), he received the recognition from a representative of this organization during the announcement of the results of dan examinations. On this level, the grade is more than the recognition of technical skills, as the examination board rewards the education of Jiu-Jitsu by high standards in the awardee’s native country and his decades-long sustained efforts in pursuing and popularizing the sport.

Due to the strict requirements and standards, there are few Grandmaster sportsmen in Hungary and around the world. This grade is awarded secretly on a case-by-case basis, without the candidates’ knowing about it, as they are tested, examined and judged in the background, out of the public eye.
