The Gripens of Kecskemét carried out this year’s first Air Defence Training Activity (ADTRAC) in the second week of April. This time they were flying under the supervision of the Spanish Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC, Torrejón), but the flights were still organized by the Italian CAOC-5.

This year too, they had to intercept Slovenian PC-9 aircraft in the airspace of Slovenia, then
make them land at the international airport of Ljubljana by NATO SOPs during a “Tango"
scramble. Two Italian F–2000 Typhoons flew a similar mission, then a two-on-two dissimilar
air combat training (DACT) with the Hungarian JAS-39 Gripens took place in Slovenian
airspace.

This exercise is already an integral part of a process which will soon end with the Kecskemét
Gripens on quick reaction alert (QRA) taking on air policing tasks in the airspace of Slovenia
as well.
