“The most important objective is to train together with those allies and partner countries that we are closely cooperating with in military operations abroad”, Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku, Commander, HDF Joint Force Command summed up the essence of Capable Logistician 2015 at the opening of the exercise on 7 June.

Exercise Capable Logistician 2015 has started with the participation of close to 900 troops and about 600 pieces of equipment. It is running until 26 June and involves altogether 32 nations. On the one hand, Hungary is providing Host Nation Support for military and civilian units, and on the other it is actively participating in various training events. “All logistic organizations are involved in the exercise, and the members of the HDF 25th Klapka György Infantry Brigade are working here as role-players. We are performing 13 different logistic activities to carry out tasks in cooperation with other nations", Brig.-Gen. Imre Pogácsás, the Logistics Chief of the Defence Staff said.

The last time a logistic exercise of this scale took place in the Hungarian Defence Forces was in 2003, and Hungarian troops participated in a similar exercise of the Multinational Logistics Coordination Centre (MLCC) held in Prague in 2013. Back then, they were working together with “only" two or three countries, so the largest-scale domestic exercise of this year is a huge test of our logisticians in every respect.

Maj.-Gen. Sándor Fucsku told us that “there is no better opportunity for us than this exercise, because life shows that we will have to execute all operational tasks in the near future in multinational environment and cooperation." Exercise Director Col. Jan Husák added that “we can see NATO member countries and partner nations cooperating on this exercise. The number of participants shows the importance of the exercise and the will of nations." Col. Husák emphasized that beyond the cooperation of military units, the Capable Logistician exercise is also special because the execution of different logistic tasks involves civilian companies.
