Start of Exercise Clever Ferret 2017

On Monday, 30 October Exercise Clever Ferret 2017 of the Multinational Land Forces (MLF) composed of Hungarian, Italian and Slovenian elements started with a flag-raising ceremony in the central military training area and range of the Hungarian Defence Forces. During the next days, the troops of three nations will be conducting combined training and live fire exercises. The most important objective of the exercise is to develop interoperability.

International Exchange of Experience in Szentendre

A one-week course recently finished at the HDF NCO Academy. The professional course was special because the Hungarian students were taught by a British instructor from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. The closing ceremony was also attended by Iain Lindsay, the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Hungary.

Black Swan 2017 – Exemplary Performance

Speaking at the Distinguished Visitors’ (DV) Day of the Black Swan 2017 international exercise on 12 July, Minister of Defence Dr. István Simicskó stated that “we are proud of our troops. We have seen excellently trained soldiers during the exercise, and the demonstration was exemplary”. The capability demonstration, held at the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base, was attended by President of Hungary Dr. János Áder and Chief of Defence Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő.

Cooperation for Security

We’ve seen a clear proof of it, and I’d like to congratulate each soldier who participated in the preparation and the demonstration because they practice their profession at a high level by high standards, Deputy Minister Tamás Vargha, Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence said at the Distinguished Visitors’ Day of Exercise Szentes Axe 2017 in Győr on Wednesday, 5 July.

Load Diffuser 2017 – The Largest Air Force Exercise in Hungary

On Friday, 2 June in Kecskemét, Deputy Chief of Defence Lt.-Gen. Dr. Zoltán Orosz stated that “Hungarian soldiers are well-trained and able to attain military objectives, using allied procedures, in order to guarantee the security of Hungary and the region”. Gen. Orosz and Gen. Tod D. Wolters, the Commander of the United States Air Force in Europe (COMUSAFE) also attended the Distinguished Visitors’ Day of Load Diffuser 2017, an exercise that has been going on for two weeks now, in order to see the interoperability of the participating units.

Fire Blade 2017: 300 Flight Hours, 40,000 Rounds and Rockets Fired

Exercise Fire Blade 2017 Starts with 500 Participants

On Monday, 1 May, the multinational Exercise Fire Blade 2017 kicked off with altogether15 aircraft and 500 personnel. The helicopter exercise – which is aimed at practicing various rotary-wing capabilities –, is hosted by the HDF Pápa Air Base.
