Military Attachés Introduce Themselves

The military attachés – starting for their diplomatic missions abroad – presented themselves in an audience to Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende and MoD State Secretary for Public Administration Lajos Fodor on Monday, July 11. The twelve attachés and the one deputy attaché will discharge their service duties at posts important for Hungary from the point of view of (military) diplomacy as from this autumn. MoD Chief of Cabinet Dr. Szarka Gábor and the Chief of the MoD Defence Staff Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő also attended the Cabinet session.

As we learnt from the introduction of the attachés-to-be: they have sufficiently deep commitment, high-level professional qualifications, good command of languages, and extensive practical experience for the successful fulfilment of their military mission; e.g. there is an officer among them who has five advanced-level language examinations. Our military attachés are perfectly aware of the fact that each diplomatic post has its special features and weight.

At one of the posts the most important priority will be to strengthen the economic relations (Delhi), while at another place the Hungarian minority policy situation, the delicate balance of dual citizenship will require special attention (Kiev); again in some other cases the focus will be on security issues (Algiers, Cairo, Islamabad-Kabul). In the EU Member States they have to keep in mind the topical questions, the timely aspects of the European Union and NATO, as a matter of fact.

Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende acknowledged with satisfaction what was said during the introductory audience, establishing that it is of immeasurably great significance for our Homeland to be able to count on such an excellently qualified team.
