Szöveg: honvedelem.hu | 2018. március 10. 20:44Led by MoD IMMH Commander Col. Dr. Vilmos Kovács, a working group from the MoD Institute and Museum of Military History recently travelled to Transcarpathia to conduct a war grave care site survey and discuss possibilities for museum cooperation.
During the visit on 7-8 March, the delegation held work discussion with Mátyás Szilágyi, Consul General at the Consulate of Hungary in Berehove, and then proceeded to the Roman Catholic cemetery of the town in the company of Vice-Mayor of Berehove Géza Orosz, to see and wreathe a WWII Hungarian military plot, which was restored there in 2005.
On the second day of the survey, the Hungarian delegation visited a WWI military cemetery near Pidpolozzja in Volovets Raion. Arkágyij Kovács, the mayor of the village was also present at the survey, and expressed pleasure over the Hungarian proposals for a potential restoration. During the meeting, the sides agreed that the MoD Institute and Museum of Military History will draw up preliminary plans for restoring the cemetery and expanding it into a possible regional military cemetery, and that subsequently the sides will hold another discussion until the end of April.
Established a couple of years ago, Árpád Line Museum in the area of the neighboring village Verhnya Hrabivnica raised the possibilities of promising bilateral cooperation between the two museums, also to be discussed by the sides in the near future.
