The HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) – as an organisation highly involved in the development of Baghlan Province – lays a special emphasis on the support and implementation of projects to be carried out in the educational system.

The educational institution – where the official foundation-stone laying ceremony of a new twelve-classroom school building was held on October 20 – is situated a few kilometres from Pol-e Khomri. The foundation works of the new school went on despite the ceremony; they were suspended for just a few hours owing to the arrival of the guests.

Among the guests were the leadership of the Educational Department of Baghlan Province – on the Afghan side the representatives of the professional, administrative supervisory organisations of the investment –, the MP of Baghlan Province, the leaders of the Provincial Council, the leaders of the neighbouring settlements and the local journalists, too.

Also present was the Commander of the HUN PRT-11 Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin as the chief patron and the host of the project. In his speech, the Hungarian field officer emphasized the international character of the investment, and the importance of education as the vital token of the future. The HUN PRT Commander cut the ceremonial ribbon together with the Afghan administrative dignitaries present at the event, which was followed by the laying of the foundation-stone.

The school-enlargement project was originally initiated by the US Army Civil Affairs Team. The project is being financed in the framework of the CERP (Commander Emergency Response Program), and involves considerable HUN PRT support besides the US military contribution.

With its 24 classrooms, the Said Jamaluddin School located in Dand-e Ghori District, will be the elementary-level and at the same time the most modern educational institution of Babar and Bagh-e Shamal settlements.
