Hungarian–Serbian Team Marches On

The InterSector Competition takes place in UNFICYP every six months. This time, Sector 4 has hosted the contest at its Famagusta HQ, where seven teams entered the race to test their strength. Sector 1 was represented by two Argentine teams, Sector 2 by the British and the Mobile Force Reserve (MFR) teams and Sector 4 by a Slovak–Serbian–Hungarian team. The members of the latter were Capt. Levente Szilágyi, Lt. Nándor Major, WO Adam Leontijevic, SFC Roland Petrovánszki, SSgt. Ferenc Bakos and PFC Károly Sümegi.
The participants matched themselves against each other in five events: a one-minute bench press done with 50 per cent of one’s own weight, a one-minute sit-up, car tire throwing, truck pushing and 1200-meter tractor tire rolling. The tournament proved to be a really hard test of stamina for the competitors.
The team which included Hungarian members was awarded the prestigious second placing after the winning Slovak team, and the British team was placed third.
