Military Attachés Visit Pápa

On April 21, a dozen military attachés accredited to Budapest visited HDF Pápa Air Base, where they had an opportunity to have a detailed briefing and to see static and dynamic displays. Of course, the C-17 Globemaster airlifter was a highlight of the program, while the high-powered Rosenbauer Panther 6×6 CA-5 airport crash tender (also known as airport fire appliance) was pouring water on the runway during a demonstration of effects.

ZMNE: Two Hundred Years And A Double Farewell

The community of Zrínyi Miklós University of National Defence (ZMNE) said farewell to both its 459 graduates and its Ülloi Street campus during the leaving celebration on 18th July, since the next semester will start for every faculty at the Hungária Boulevard base. This year’s end-of-year ceremony is special, because Hungarian military higher education celebrates its 200th birthday in 2008.

Fort of Monostor Invaded by Military Families

And if it is not impregnable, then I will occupy it later, if there is an opportunity!” If we can believe the chronicler, these were the words of General Józef Bem when he refused to accept the position of commander of the Komárom Fortress, offered to him by Lajos Kossuth on the occasion of their joint visit on 6-7 November 1848.
