Well-Trained Personnel Leave for the Sinai

„At this moment, the Sinai Peninsula is not free from tensions; during their pre-deployment training, the personnel leaving to serve with the mission have been trained in the safe procedures to be used in the changed security situation”, stressed Maj.-Gen. László Domján. The commander of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) greeted the soldiers to serve with missions abroad at a farewell and welcome home ceremony held in Székesfehérvár on August 22.

Air Defense Control Officers Have Done Well

Two air defense control officers (ADCOs) from the HDF Air Command and Control Center (HDF ACCC) participated in the multinational exercise “Lion Effort 2012” that took place in Sweden between March 27 and April 5. 1st Lt. István Ivanicskó, air defense branch chief told us that certain tasks during the exercise presented them with challenges, but they have done well.

C-17 Transports Victory for Pápa

Metaphorically speaking, on Saturday, April 14 a C-17 aircraft of the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) transported victory for the team of Lombard Pápa FC that plays in the Hungarian Premier League. Based on a joint idea of the football club and the HAW, shortly before the match a plane of the fleet – with 1st Lt. Viktor Lukács on board – flew over the stadium in salute.

The One Who Finished the School of Survival

Some years ago there was a promotional campaign going on at the big Hungarian universities to advertise the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) program. In 2002, a young man named Viktor Lukács studied at the Budapest University of Technology (BME). Today he holds the rank of first lieutenant and serves with the Pápa-based Heavy Airlift Wing as its only Hungarian pilot.

Soldiers Run Around Lake Balaton

Thirty-seven soldiers of the Hungarian Defence Forces entered the BSI Balaton Super Marathon race which took place between March 15 and 18. The competitors received support from the National Federation of Military Sports Clubs (HOSOSZ), while the competition itself – which attracted more than one thousand runners –, from the Ministry of Defence. The military runners achieved good results at the race.

They Have Returned from the Balkans

“To us the Balkans is one of the most important areas of operations where peace is very fragile. Active participation in the stabilization processes is therefore a high priority for us” – Brig.-Gen. Albert Sáfár, the Air Force Chief of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) stressed at the “Welcome Home” ceremony held in Székesfehérvár on Friday, March 9 for the personnel who served in individual positions in the Balkans Joint Operational Area (JOA) over the last six months.
