In the close to 60 years since its establishment, more than two-third of the armies of the members states of the European Union have joined the FINABEL organization (for example, from among Hungary’s neighboring countries, Slovakia joined it in 2006, Romania in 2008 and Croatia in 2017).

The host of the summit was Maj.-Gen. Petri Hulkko, Commander of the Finnish Army. At the already traditional event, the Hungarian Defence Forces were represented by Brig.-Gen. Zsolt Sándor, acting Land Forces Chief, HDF Joint Force Command.

The aim of the conference is to develop the operational interoperability of armies in the European joint-force environment through the standardization of the member states’ army concepts, doctrines and operational procedures, which promotes standardization, cooperation and harmony among the member states.

The participants reviewed some current issues in the cooperation of European armies, the developments influencing the security of Europe, the security challenges for the land forces and the possibilities for developing the EU Battle Groups.

Beyond common professional and cultural programs, the conference provided the participating military leaders with opportunities to conduct bilateral discussions on the land forces.
