Ministerial Visit to Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk

Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő paid a courtesy visit to the Commanding Officer of NATO’s Allied Command Transformation on Tuesday, 26th March.

Minister of Defence arrived to the meeting of the UN defence ministers to the United States of America. During the first leg of the visit to the US, the Minister was received by General André Lanata, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (SACT) in Norfolk.

Tibor Benkő informed his host about the modernisation of the Hungarian Defence Forces (HDF), about the Zrínyi 2026 National Defence and Armed Forces Development Program, and about the fulfilment of our NATO membership obligations. It was said that Hungary is a committed member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, thus the development of the HDF’s capabilities also means strengthening the Alliance.

Following the official meeting, the Minister visited the Hungarian soldiers serving in the personnel of the Headquarters, and thanked them that with their work, they help to ensure that Hungary continues to be a well-respected member of the Alliance.

On the following day, in Washington, Minister of Defence will inform the representatives of the local Hungarian diaspora about the national policy objectives of the Hungarian Government, thereby strengthening the high priority given to the Hungarian communities living abroad, and that the care for them is included among the priorities of the Hungarian Government.

On this occasion, Minister of Defence Tibor Benkő will have a discussion over a working lunch with the Ambassador of Hungary accredited to Washington.
