Dr. Romulusz Ruszin, the commander of the 11th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) opened an IT and English language course at the base of the non-governmental organization (NGO) ‘Social Institute of Support of Women and Children’ (SISWC) in Pol-e Khumri, Afghanistan.

Soldiers of Three Nations Go on Joint Patrol

In addition to Hungarians, there are Croatian and Albanian troops on the staff of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) CIMIC section. Croatian Capt. Slavko Horvatic, Albanian Lt. Olgert Davidhi and Hungarian Lt. Ádám Boór recently mounted a joint patrol in Jelga District, Afghanistan.

Providing Assistance After the Mine Disaster

On December 24 a serious mine disaster occurred in the Chiranak village coal mine of Nahrin District, Afghanistan. Altogether 13 miners lost their lives in the disaster. The Afghan governmental organs officially requested the commander of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) to let the Hungarian troops join the humanitarian relief efforts in the wake of the mine disaster.

Medical Aid to the Public Hospital

The chief of staff of the 11th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) continued the aid program launched in the last months by donating supplementary medical material to the director of the municipal public hospital in Pol-e Khumri, Afghanistan on 20 December. The hospital led by Head Physician Dr. Khalil Mosudia is a health care institution which is open to every resident of Baghlan Province.

Basic Computer Course Launched in Pol-e Khomri

A basic computer course started on Sunday, November 20, at the Police Headquarters (PoHQ) in Pol-e Khomri, Afghanistan, for the Afghan policemen and soldiers, in the joint organisation of the Operational Co-ordination Centre, Provincial (OCC-P) of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) and the Hungarian policemen posted by the Ministry of Interior to the contingent of the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL).

Operation GORK-II in Andarab

In early November, the designated personnel of the 11th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) moved around Banu and Deh-e-Salában districts in Andarab, Afghanistan. The primary objective of the operation was to enable the Mission Teams to collect the demands for new projects, check the completion of earlier ones and hand over the pre-packaged food for those in need.

New Deputy Commander of ISAF RC-North Visits Camp Pannonia

In the morning of October 4, US Army Col. Eric Wendt, the new deputy commander (DCOM) of ISAF Regional Command–North (ISAF RC-North) paid an orientation visit to the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) Camp Pannonia in Afghanistan. The visit was related to the DCOM transfer of authority process at RC-N. In the next few days the new deputy commander visited the bases of the ISAF forces deployed around the northern region to learn more about their tasks.
