Waterspring-2013

As from January 1, 2013, the Hungarian Defence Forces transport drinking water to communities where the arsenic content of water exceeds the limit value set by the European Union. More than 250 soldiers have been detailed from the subordinated units of the HDF Joint Force Command to execute the task Waterspring-2013. They provide the people living in the endangered zones with healthy potable water with the help of 95 water trailers, 18 water transport trucks and five automated packaging devices with a capacity of 900 liters/hour.
Crowd Riot Control Training Completed

The pre-deployment training for the eighth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent has ended. The soldiers of the Hungarian peacekeeping unit conducted a culmination exercise (CULEX) in the presence of a group of supervisors from the HDF Joint Force Command inside the Hódmezővásárhely barracks of the HDF 5th Bocskai István Infantry Brigade on November 28. They were tasked with dispersing a violent crowd that behaved aggressively towards the patrols.
Purifying and Packaging

Conducted on the bank of the stream Kurca, the skills maintenance trade training for the water purification company of the HDF 37th Ferenc Rákóczi II Engineer Regiment of Szentes is in its third week. The unit is going to start the special tactical sessions in a couple of days because, being the only company of the Hungarian Defence Forces with this capability, it is preparing for the national CREVAL procedure which is due next month.
Start of Exercise Logical Decision 2012

The multinational tactical air exercise Logical Decision 2012 started with the participation of 10 helicopters and some 300 troops in Szolnok on September 4. The exercise sponsor is Brig.-Gen. Imre Lamos, the commander of the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base. The exercise director (EXDIR) is Maj. Péter Simon, the acting commander of the attack helicopter battalion. The helicopter pilots of the Hungarian Air Force conducted the first joint exercise of this type with our NATO partners in 2006.
They Have Returned Home from Missions

János Huszár, the Land Forces Chief of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) welcomed on Wednesday, June 27 the soldiers returning home from missions abroad in the ‘Miklós Zrínyi’ barracks of Hódmezővásárhely.
Exploring a Shipwreck in the Adriatic Sea

The combat divers of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade 24th ‘Bornemissza Gergely’ Reconnaissance Battalion assisted with the archeological exploration of the battle cruiser ‘Franz Joseph’ that sank more than 90 years ago. The wreck lies at a depth of 45 meters in the Adriatic Sea on the Montenegrin–Croatian border.
NRDC-ITA Commander Visits Hungary

Lt.-Gen. Giorgio Battisti, the commander of the NATO Rapid Deployable Corps – Italy (NRDC-ITA) paid a two-day visit to Hungary. On June 12 he held discussions at the HDF Joint Force Command, and the following day went to Hódmezővásárhely to see the tactical capabilities of a unit declared to NATO, the 62nd Infantry Battalion of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade.
Combat Divers of Debrecen Explore Shipwreck

After 60 years, combat divers of the Hungarian Defence Forces are to dive into sea again. They are participating in mapping the wreck of SMS Franz Joseph I, a battle cruiser of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy lying at a depth of 45 meters. WO Bence Miklós, S/Sgt. Zsolt Horváth, Sgt. Lajos Bíró and L./Sgt. Péter Hollós, the combat divers of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade 24th ‘Bornemissza Gergely’ Reconnaissance Battalion set out for the Adriatic Sea on May 25.
